Trying Something New!

What's up lovely people!

Just the other day my boyfriend and I went and got tacos from this cozy little taco spot in the downtown area of where we live. GUYS YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE HOW GOOD THESE TACOS WERE.  These tacos had to be some of the best tacos i've ever had. I promise I'm not exaggerating. I went from only liking like one Mexican cuisine restaurant in town, to completely switching to this one being my fav.  Now, I don't know if you all know or not...but i'm a huge Mexican food fanatic. Most of my dad's family is from New Mexico, so I have a deep love for the food and because of this I know authentic Mexican food when I taste it.

To be completely honest this place looked a little skeptical, but me being me, I didn't mind. I know some of the best food comes from the most unexpected places.

So, the next time you are driving through your town try a restaurant you would usually pass up, tell me how it goes!

Here's some Fun Taco Recipes!

Not Missing My Ship: Part 2

Hello everyone!

So last week was spring break and I had the time of my life! Friends, random people, the open sea, and tons of fun. I can't begin to explain the amount of fun I had. Coming back to school assignments, tests, and quizzes has honestly been super difficult, but I'm slowly finding my way back to reality.

Beyond trying to get back on track with school and work I have been trying my very best to think up how I could possibly live my best life. I know that sounds really dramatic and kind of obvious, but I really want to know. I mean I graduate in like a semester and a half, and I have no clue what I want to do. A part of me wants to travel like Adventurous Kate, 'The Solo Female Traveler': Kate's Blog Page!

Then another part of me wants to thrive in my career, like really thrive. I want the love, life, family, career, and children. I truly want it all! And as I'm typing I realize....I can. I can have it all. I guess to sum this up I really should somehow focus on all the important areas of my life, like really zone in on all the beautiful things I want out of life; and I don't mean the material things.

In one of my blogs I wrote about Not Missing My Ship.

I believe if I stay prepared or ready for the unthinkable I'll never miss my ship. I hope my rambles make sense to you all. Peace and Love:)

Why Not Travel?

Hi all,

So today I’m heading to Dallas, Texas to spend the weekend with my childhood best friend. I’m writing this as I wait for my flight to take off. I don’t think I’ve ever told you guys, but I absolutely love airports. Maybe it’s all he excitement that comes from people leaving and starting anew, or maybe it’s all the love from travelers and their loved ones. I just love it. Don’t get me wrong flying can get very tiring very quick, but when I do fly I enjoy it.

With this blog being about graduating college and moving on to new chapters I thought a blog on the top 3 reasons to travel would be fun. After I graduate I plan to travel as well. In all honesty why not? At this point in my life I have nothing to lose. Enjoy😊
  1. If not now, then when?           The subhead says it all. But seriously think about that. If you don’t go now when will you? You’ll always have bills to pay, so staying because you want to make sure you have all the money in the world will constantly have you pushing back your travels. I understand wanting to save to make sure you are financially stable at home before you go, but try to set a goal for that and go as soon as you reach it! Another thing, today you are as young as you’ll ever be. Remember this the next time you push off a trip out fear or maybe even anxiety. These are the days I’ll be looking back on one day. Create lasting memories!❤️

2.  It opens your mind and eyes
-After traveling ANYWHERE different from what you’re used to, you gain a deeper love and appreciation for the world and people around you. When you are constantly running through your weekly schedule you become numb to all the beauty that occurs around you on the everyday basis, Travel really helps to bring you back to life.

3. You’ll find joy in places you never imagined
-Travel truly does change you. Go out there and try new things and while you’re out there you’re bound to meet new people!

Peace and Love,

Don't Make Me Think!

Don’t Make Me Think Review

A book like Don’t Make Me Think, is the type of book you do not know you need until you read it. To be completely honest after reading the summary for Steve Krug’s, Don’t Make Me Think, I felt as if reading the book would add little to no value to my life or work. I assumed the book would be filled with a bunch of facts and tips that I “already” knew, but my experience was the complete opposite. Reading this book taught me an exceptional amount when it came down to making my website user friendly. Upon the ending of this book I realized I had learned everything I didn’t know I needed to know.  At this point in my college career, I cannot decide between being a reporter or working in digital media, but Don’t Make Me Think somehow automatically made me so much better in each field. Every little tip and trick in this book gave me the tools needed to be the journalist I have always aspired to be.
While reading Steve Krug’s, Don’t Make Me Think there were a few tips in particular on having an easy-to-use website that stuck out to me. For example, in chapter five, I learned about the importance of getting rid of needless words. While getting rid of “needless words” might sound obvious, it was not until I went and looked at my own website, where I quickly realized I had an excessive amount of needless words. In the book Krug says, “Happy talk is like small talk—content-free, basically just a way to be sociable. But most Web users don’t have time for small talk; they want to get right to the point. You can—and should—eliminate as much happy talk as possible” (Krug 50). After reading this excerpt I realized a lot of what was on my website was less of me and my content and more of me trying to tell people why they should stay and watch my content. I always thought keeping your writing brief and straight to the point only applied while writing research papers or while on twitter, but this chapter showed me its importance even on websites.
A few other tips from Don’t Make Me Think that I found to be useful was the chapter on Designing Navigation. This chapter taught me the importance of making any website as rudimentary as possible. So, even if your audience is in their mid 40’s they should not have to think twice about clicking on a tab while, for example, trying to find your contact information. This chapter was another chapter that seemed evident at first, but quickly became a reference to making my own personal website better. Lastly, actually testing a website on how user-friendly it is, is another tip from this book that I found to be very helpful in creating and up keeping a successful website.
I truly did enjoy reading Don’t Make Me Think. The short length of this book made for an enjoyable, but straight to the point read. My new-found knowledge from this book will have my personal website and blog off to great starts!

Oh Puppy!

Hello everyone!

So this week has been pretty exciting! All week I have had the honor of puppy-sitting my mom's 8-week-old pup Laney. By the way  I am a HUGE dog lover. Ok so before my mom brought Laney I could not wait! I was expecting to have cuddle time like all day everyday, maybe feed her with a little bottle, and then have more cuddles, but this only lasted for like a day. When Laney got here she wanted to be everywhere and in everything! Guys I have never seen a little teacup puppy move so fast across the floor. On top of her running wild, she had to eat every little piece of anything that was on the floor! I learned rather quickly that watching her for the remainder of the week would not be an easy task. As the week progressed she slowly got accustomed to my school schedule as well as my own dog, Saasha. Saasha, being on the older side, definitely wanted nothing to do with the little lighting bolt of a puppy for the entire week, but managed to tolerate her. Despite Laney keeping me on my toes, I couldn't wait to come home to all her little energy everyday. Overall my time with Laney was sweet, despite how tiny she is she gave some pretty great cuddles. Happy Thursday everyone!
Love and Peace,
